How to Form the Plural in French – Part 4 of 4

eyes and noseSome French words, like the English word deer, don’t change in the plural.
Words that have these endings in the singular are the same in the plural:

  • s
  • x
  • z

For example:

le corps = body
les corps = bodies

la voix = voice
les voix = voices

le nez = nose
les nez = noses

Other words are just unusual in how the plural is formed:

oeil = eye
yeux = eyes

monsieur = mister, sir, gentleman
messieurs = sirs, gentlemen

madame = Mrs., ma’am, lady
mesdames = ladies
